maloca :
bringing COP30 to all parts of the globe

Originally, maloca are types of communal dwellings used by some indigenous peoples of the Amazon region. maloca can have different styles, sizes, and even social functions, being used as housing and/or places for community interaction, transmission of knowledge, or even to house rituals. Among the Marubo , for example, the maloca is made with interlocking joints and serves as a place to sleep, prepare food, receive visitors, chant, and assist the shaman.

In the 'Route to Belém' initiative, Maloca has transformed into a multiverse platform that expands access to COP30 and other climate change events. It hosts immersive virtual rooms where governments and organizations, whether or not they are present at the Belém conference, can make presentations – which anyone, anywhere in the world, can participate in. Maloca allows events to be translated by AI into more than 50 languages.

In addition to providing customizable immersive environments for presentations on global climate change, Maloca offers the advantage of allowing participants to interact with each other before, during, or after events. The videos below demonstrate how the platform works, highlighting its main features:

Maloca prototype was opened for testing at COP 29 in Baku (video below) . Even without mass dissemination, the virtual environments have already received more than 1,200 visitors. In March 2025, we held the first Maloca , in which more than 1,500 students from public schools across 3 continents (South America, Africa, and Europe) participated. The event was held in 4 languages – French, Portuguese, English, and Spanish – allowing interaction among the young people, represented by avatars within the Maloca Maloca .
